Hear what what Zsofia R. current student of the MSc in Luxury Management and Marketing Programme has to say about the "One day in Paris"
In December we benefited from a unique learning opportunity in Paris: a special luxury day was organized, in order for us to have a better insight into the industry and meet some luxury industry professionals.
We had the chance to understand the behind the scenes arena of Lesage Atelier, the most famous embroidery house in France, Chaumet International, the French high-end jewelry house, Guerlain, the French perfume brand with a five generation history and KR Media who works in collaboration with some luxury brands.
All of them offered us an exclusive experience within their companies. For Lesage Atelier we had an insight into the manufacturing department, where we could see how haute couture pieces are made. Chaumet International showed us the private part of their shop, usually reserved to high-end customers who want to buy or even co-design their own timepieces. This experience as a whole brought us added-value which will help us succeed in the luxury business. All the work we saw inspired us and helped us broaden our horizon within this industry.
In the afternoon we had the opportunity to meet some successful managers from the luxury industry who are also emlyon business school graduates. Within the confines of the expert panel they shared with us their career paths and gave us some useful advice for our future. It was inspiring to hear their life stories and how they achieved their goals. Also it was an amazing networking opportunity for all of us. We had the chance to talk to Geoffroy de La Bourdonnaye, President of Chloe International, Yann Masson, Area Director at Sisley Cosmetics, Matthieu Ferry, Marketing Director Europe at Chaumet International and Justine Torres, Jewelry and Bridal Marketing Manager at Van Cleef and Arpels.
To sum it up, we had a wonderful day, with lots of inspiration, experience and new insights. We are thankful for all the company meetings, and to the emlyon business school staff who made this happen!
