This year, the students of the MSc in Sports Industry Management started their semester at EMLYON’s Asian Campus in Shanghai with a “Sports Week”, an event organised by Pascal Aymar, Programme Director. This week-long event started off with a presentation on the history and perception of Sports in Asia given by Marceau Chenault, lecturer and researcher at East China Normal University and a cocktail at the Sofitel in Shanghai.
During that week, the students met with key players of international sports companies operating in Asia including the Managing Director of Puma China, the former Marketing Director of Reebok China and the former Product Manager for adidas (also former Brand Director of Jack Wolfskin). During different presentations and conferences, the students learned about the Chinese sports market, the marketing and communication strategies applied to the sports industry in China, the sports product marketing methods in China, and distribution channels in Asia.
During the rest of the week, the students also benefitted from store visits in different shopping malls and attended the Shanghai F1 Grand Prix Qualifications.
Other guest lecturers during the Sports Week included the Vice President of Anta, a renowned Chinese local sports brand, and the Brand Director of Decathlon in Asia.
