Studying the industry of sports and outdoor at EMLYON Business School

Pascal Aymar has a long experience in the field. Before working for EMLYON Business School and OSV, he worked for Coalision, a ski and fitness sportswear company (Annecy, France) where he was Vice President for the regions of Europe and Asia. Before that, he has worked in many different companies such as Reebok, Salomon, Scott USA and Hasbro with job positions ranging from Market Study Manager to Global Brand Director and Marketing Vice President.

His expertise in the sports industry leads him to believe that what the industry is crying out for “is a way to develop and nurture leadership talent that really understands the mechanics of the sector”. He continues by stating that this is why EMLYON Business School and OSV decided to set up this specialised master programme “that gives students the in-depth knowledge of the outdoor sports industry and gives them the opportunity to work with some of the biggest brands in the market as part of the course.”

The article moves on to talk about the programme’s specificities such as the essential international exposure as well as the unique learning methodology combining fundamental courses, special workshops and lecturers given by high-end industry experts. Pascal Aymar highlights one of the top professionals that the students met: “as part of the retailing module in Annecy, the students met with Franz Julen, CEO IIC-INTERSPORT, a successful entrepreneur and a sportsman himself. He presented to the class the strategy of his company and shared his overall experience as an entrepreneur. Students were enthusiastic to learn how the company was set up and how it operates today.”

Companies such as Patagonia, Adidas and The North Face are “thirsty for young talent with a global outlook who have management skills as well as a top-to-bottom knowledge of the industry as a whole”, mentions Pascal Aymar.
