TED (“Technology”, “Entertainment” and “Design”) is a non-profit created to advocate "Ideas Worth Spreading". The first "TED" conference dates back to 1984: it brought together people from its three target communities - Technology, Entertainment and Design. TED annual conferences attract the world’s most fascinating thinkers and movers and shakers. To give its aim of spreading ideas greater reach, TED set up TEDx, “x” standing for “independent TED event”. A TEDx is a local, independently-organized event intended to bring together people interested in enjoying a TED experience.
