Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, founder of BRAC, will be guest speaker at the “Learning from Entrepreneurs” conference organized by the World Entrepreneurship Forum on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010 at 5.15 pm. The conference will take place at EMLYON Business School Campus.
During the conference, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed will share his insights on his conception of development and social entrepreneurship.
After the 1971 Liberation War, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed decided to set up BRAC to rehabilitate returning refugees in a remote area in northeastern Bangladesh. In the span of only three decades, BRAC grew to become the largest development organisation in the world in terms of the scale and diversity of its interventions.
On November 2009, he received the first ever “Entrepreneur for the World” Award in the Social Entrepreneur category.
In early 2010, Sir Fazle Abed was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his services to reducing poverty in Bangladesh and internationally.
