Meet Diego, current student of the MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing

Tell us a bit about your background.

My name is Diego. I'm 24 years old and live in Lausanne, Switzerland. I was born in Switzerland but both of my parents are Spanish. Since a young age I have been travelling a lot and have had the chance to continue exploring the world thanks to the studies I pursued. I studied Hospitality Management at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland. Over the course of my studies, I was lucky to be able to do two internships. The first one in Thailand and the second one in Brazil, which allowed to discover two completely different cultures and working environments.

Why did you decide to join the program?

I have decided to join this program because, as interesting as hospitality management is, I have always been passionate about the luxury industry. To me, emlyon business school’s MSc in Luxury Management & Marketing stood out, as it combines expertise, cultural discoveries, group works, and in-company experiences. 

What do you expect from the program? 

I expect this programme to allow me to gain the industry-specific requirements in order to succeed in the competitive environment that is the luxury industry. Furthermore, the semester of complete immersion in Shanghai will provide me with broader knowledge of the Asian luxury industry and more specifically of the Chinese market. Finally, by spending a couple of months either at London College of Fashion or Parsons School of Design, I will be able to combine the business mindset acquired at emlyon business school with specific skills allowing me to distinguish myself on the professional market.

Three words to describe yourself: 

If I had to describe myself into three words I would say curious, enthusiastic and perseverant.
