Four of our International MBA participants were at the annual Global Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly Moot Corp) in Austin, Texas from 2-5 May. This year the business plan competition gathered 39 teams from top graduate programmes around the world.
A team of 6 worked on the project.
What does the project consist of?
The EMLYON team was presenting an investment opportunity in a decorative lighting start-up. The prototype is an intelligent lamp which you can control via your smartphone or tablet, and creates colorful ambiances using LEDs, and bluetooth transmission access control. The product is truly innovative in the smart ambiant light market: it can light up your living room for a romantic evening, or turn your apartment into a lively club.
How relevant is it to take part in this experience?
Paul-Eric Rose says "The Global Venture Labs Investment Competition was truly a tremendous experience. As part of EMLYON's delegation, I was able to test my skills against the world's best of the best. This is truly where entrepreneurship happens. We didn't win, but our team learnt a great deal from this opportunity, and we did a great job in selling our start-up to VC's. We came out of it with stronger convictions of how to bring our product to the market, and we got valuable contacts with seasoned VC investors. Watch out, the EMLYON team will be back, and we're hungry for more!""
Next step for the team? The European Business Plan of the Year Competition which will take place in Athens, Greece from 31 May – 1 June 2013.
